Rusty Tweed has been in the real estate business since he was 22 years old, when he purchased his first rental property in Toronto, Canada. He was able to buy his second Toronto rental a few years later. When Rusty's passive income sources eventually brought him to Los Angeles, CA in 1987, he made the move. Before the early 1990s real estate meltdown, Rusty had done well over 30 real estate flips after moving to Southern California.
Rusty was first introduced to the 1031 Tax-Deferred Exchange concept in 2004. Rusty was working for Del Exeter, a CPA in Monrovia, CA, at the time. Retired Chicago Title Company Exchange Division leader and Del's son Bill Exeter introduced Rusty to his father. As a result of Bill's knowledge, Rusty was able to swiftly learn the ins and outs of the 1031 Exchange process.
As a result, Rusty has supported his clients in more than 100 property swaps. Rusty has successfully completed more over $500 million in 1031 exchanges. When it comes to his firm, Rusty focuses much of his attention on helping clients complete the 1031 exchange.
He and his company are the industry leaders in locating comparable properties to replace those that have been sold and are no longer in use. As a real estate broker, Rusty has worked with a wide variety of investment properties, including multi-family homes, retail stores, NNN leases, commercial buildings, oil and gas facilities, and land.
